Picking up from the last post, here were some of the characteristics and attributes of a desirable BD hire that we came up with:
- Industry experience (hotly contested)
- Previous sales experience and track record of performance
- Business acumen
- Interpersonal communication skills
- Time management skills
- Competitive
- Confident
- High degree of discernment
- Compelling presence
Of course, these are some of the most common characteristics. There were also a few that were pretty unique:
- Intellectually curious - having a desire to learn about the customer's business
- Networking skills - an inclination to reach out and meet others
- "Restless" - always on the move and looking for opportunities
No doubt there are many more. What's your opinion on the most important characteristics of a new BD hire?
